The Villa

You can hire the entire Villa Somervail estate for a spectacular family holiday or special birthday or anniversary, or get a group of up to 20 people together for a yoga or painting holiday. No matter the holiday type you choose, Villa Somervail provides an outstandingly beautiful and comfortable base.

The main villa and guest house are nestled on the Skiathos hillside, with breathtaking views of the sea, spanning from Kolios bay to the island of Evia and as far as Mount Pelion. The manicured gardens provide a private pool and acres of fully-furnished south-facing terraces, where olive, lemon and fig trees give beautiful dappled shade. Behind the villa you will discover a fabulous walking route through the green hills of Skiathos, towards the quiet and remote beaches of Kechria and Mandraki.

The villa is conveniently located, equidistant between Skiathos Town and the popular beach of Koukanaries. It is also minutes away from the beaches of Kolios, Vromolimnos and Kanapitsa.

Skiathos

The area

Cobbled streets of skiathos town

With its luscious pine forests and crystal-clear azure sea, it is no wonder Skiathos was used as the backdrop to the film, Mamma Mia! It is a beautiful place to visit, the greenest island in Greece, and spoilt for choice with over 60 amazing beaches - all with a different vibe to offer, from the rustic and remote to the lively and buzzing.

This idyllic Aegean island ticks all the boxes, with lots to offer to people of all ages. The island is the perfect choice for those who enjoy a laid-back holiday.

The island’s ‘capital’, the cosmopolitan Skiathos Town, boasts a lively night-life. At the centre of the action, the main thoroughfare, Papadiamanti, leads down to the Old Port and New Port harbour fronts. Here, there are ample tavernas, shops and cocktail bars that spill out onto the charming cobbled streets.

The Bourtzi is a small peninsula that divides the old and new ports. It used to be a fort, built by the Gizi brothers in the 1200s. Today, the site is a popular place for rest and recreation, with a beautiful view of the town and surrounding sea.

Skiathos is a small island, so nothing is ever too far away. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere, where everybody is made to feel welcome. For those who like to explore even further afield, the island is close enough for day trips to picturesque islands of Skopelos and Alonnisos.
